Oops!

I did it again
It’s hard to believe
Screwed up big
Need grace to proceed

There is a risk
In life on earth
You hurt the ones
You most give worth

Took a spill

On Monday morning I took a spill. Slipped on wet tile floor. Didn’t realize it was wet and I was beginning to sprint up the stairs. Smacked my knee a good one. Praise Good, no apparent damage. Did Aikido on Tuesday evening. By Wednesday morning I prayed these thoughts. Its Wednesday evening and I seem to be well – just swam some laps. Our God is an awesome God.

Sometimes things happen. Its good to have a great God.

Fell the other day
Smacked my knee pretty hard
Limping around today
Like an old dog in the yard

The doctor is out
Couple weeks for sure
I’m on the road
Could you ask for more

Yet I have a God
Who is greater than all
He cares for your health
And sees when I fall

My precious God
I make a request
Straighten my out
Line me up with the best

I know its your will
For me to be well
Bones, joints, and ligaments
No longer to swell

Learning to flow in the gifts

Attended a meeting on the above topic. Here are some versus that capture the basics of learning to move with the holy spirit.

I believe
There are things to say
To lift you up
To make your day
To edify
To make you strong
To meet your need
Know you belong

I’ve placed these gifts
Within the church
You carry them
Your give them worth
It’s up to you
To let them loose
Step out in faith
I’ll give you proof

Its up to you
To make a start
Obey the leading
Within your heart
I need your movement
To work my part
To free my gifts
Set me apart.

The Intuitive General

This one could use some contextual help. The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) speaks of dominant and auxiliary functions. The dominant function can be referred to as the general, and the auxiliary function as the lieutenant. As you would expect the general is in charge and the lieutenant carries out instructions. In the INTJ personality (1% of the population), iNtuition is the general and, Thinking the lieutenant. This is one part of the personality puzzle: there is a second.

These two functions (N and T) also have an orientation in the world. In the INTJ the thinking lieutenant is an extroverted function. So when you are facing an INTJ, you are speaking to the lieutenant, not to the one in charge, the general. If the lieutenant doesn't have it on his clip board, its not going to be available "just now." The general, on the other hand is an introverted function, one that does not directly interact with the outside world. Also one that does not process in a logical line.

As I have begun to better understand the INTJ, my peculiar type, I see that the poetry seems to help to express what is happening inside the hidden intuitive general.

Why is there fear
When facing a man
Or a woman at work
When we’re working a plan

Why second thoughts
Running awry
Afraid they’ll be slighted
Throw sand in your eye

The lieutenant stands up
He knows he’s no match
For the whit and the ego
That leads the attack

Its better to pass
And not to engage
Than look like a fool
Forced to read from the page

Then there’s the group
That flows from the heart
Fearless with them
For each knows his part

Even at times
In the safest of places
There’s still a concern
At signs in their faces

Reading their face
Is frequently wrong
What’s taken for you
Can be their own song

So test the water
Ask what goes on
You usually find
You’ve done them no harm

Suppose you have
Stroked the wrong way
Its better to know
Than sulk the whole day

Set up a system
To quell your own fear
Before it can grab you
Tug at your ear

Keep you from hearing
The general inside
Who works for your best
To guide a smooth ride

Desire a change?

The coaching model that I have submitted to ascribes that self-knowledge is a key to development. Not for the sake of changing who we are, but for understanding why we do what we do. With that understanding, we can make choices that will allow us to get different results. Sometimes it is not all that easy to see the why behind who we are. Here is what went through my mind on the topic:

Wanting a change?

I made my list
Checked it twice
Too much to do
For it to be nice

I come to you God
Again in this place
Show me Oh Lord
The place of your grace

I’ve seeded my time
To causes of worth
Multiply back
My life on the earth

Come blow away
The thinking that stinks
Keeps me locked in
Stuck up like the Sphinx

I’ve been in that place
Of flow and it’s better
Than worry and fear
Being under the weather

So here I am
With promise in hand
Boldly before you
In your presence do stand

Make my request
For mercy and grace
Adjust my thinking
Find my new place

From my experience
Many times past
Finding your presence
Brings changes that last

Opens my eyes
Gives fresh ways to look
Opens the door
To write the new book
