Hilton Head Sunrise - A good plan

Look Past the things
You do not like

Focus on the good in life

And when you do
Your soul will see
That even in the darkest sea
The long-term plan is good for me

Considering purpose

Wellington, NZ

How might we spread
Your life on the earth
To be fonts of love
Of grace and of worth

How might we be
In touch with your flow
Always at peace
Secure for we know

Connected with you
Our mind and our heart
Anchored to spirit
Never apart

Looking right past
The causes of fear
Thoughts of anxiety
That pull on our ear

For greater is he
Whom we choose to serve
Provides us a place
Secure in his word

Balancing a busy schedule

I miss my time
Of quiet place
To just be still
And sense the grace

Not competing
With hectic pace
Much to do
Meet face to face

Check that list
Respond at once
Get back with me
Do all at once

Or pull aside
Side step the flow
That carries you
Where not you know

So take a breath
Settle down
Re-connect
With holy ground

Enter back
Above the race
Touching now
That perfect place.

Traveling this week --

Much to do to get ready. I'll bet I'm not the only one who can relate to this.

Time to be quiet
To listen today
To push back the frenzy
Hold the list at bay

The mind says get busy
There is much to be done
The heart knows communion
Will keep you at one

At one with the universe
At one with your heart
At one with creation
Knowing your part

Trouble doing some things...

Oh my precious God
Why is it so hard
To do the little tasks
Before me

In themselves a breeze
Why push they to my knees
I need a different way
To frame them

To day I’m faced with two
Same story much a due
Just do it now
Be done

Its funny how the mind
Can many things entwine
Make the easy things
A story

Its back to that idea
We really must adhere
Let who we are
Be clear

Some thoughts on the intuitive general

Too much to do?

Is it possible God
That in this state
I might cross over
To a place that is safe

A place of peace
In the eye of the storm
Not yielding to pressure
To worry or morn

So many things
Wanting my say
The intuitive general
Holding the day

“Don’t let it go
“Need some more time
“What of this data
“More hills to be mined

Can you not see
Your building a cage
As the things you must do
Fill up the page

The urgent is pushing
The good things away
Letting them slip
To some future day

The things that do matter
Move further out
Make each day busy
With little clout

The horizon gets shorter
With each passing day
I seem to be holding
The promise at bay

The bondage gets tighter
The thoughts do not work
The ways of the past
Have little worth

So be ye encouraged
The box that your in
Is made for development
Find new ways to win

Oh God of the universe
You ordered things right
Open my ears
To ageless advice

Show me the ways
To reframe what is
That I may pass through
This development quiz

You know that embedded
Deep in my being
The need to contribute
To leave something keen

I’ve stated my case
I’ll say one thing more
I choose to believe
You will open the door.

Do you fit?

It has continued to be a busy time. Here are two shorts that are likely prompted by circumstances.

Am I kidding my self
All out of place
Trying to do
What I really can’t face

Thinking I’m A
When I really am B
Pushing ahead
Perhaps I’m a C

Yet much that I do
Is really a fit
Rewarding to do
Worth every bit!

-----------

Simplify, simplify
There must be a way
For time to just be
For peace in the day

The older I get
The further I’ve come
To know there’s a place
Of fit for each one.

Finding the place of flow

Had a coaching session today that showed that the same issue has been around for a long time. Here are some thoughts from last year, written about the time that the poetry began.

That Place

Early in the morning
I turn my heart to Him
Hoping that this day
A special time with Him.

And frequently it starts
With heart and mind and soul
In fellowship with Him
The grandest peace unfold.

Then the time arrives
To rise from place of grace
And step into the world
Take my current place.

His presence lingers on
Much less than I desire
For I’ve yet to find a way
To abide and not retire.

Lawbeck*, Lawrence**, others
Testify there is a place
Of unbroken communion
And unlimited embrace.

And they agree together
When abiding place is found
There’s very little labor
For His grace indeed abounds.

**Brother Lawrence, 16 century monk, who’s letters are captured in “Practicing the Presence of God”

Too Much to Do?

This week, as part of my "being coached" activities, I have agreed to examine the thoughts behind my proclivity to require more time than I would like to complete various tasks. This is a good time for pressing into that area as I am feeling the pressure of a lot to do, many tasks with definite delivery times.

Too Much to Do?

This is not a good time
Its not a good place
Must reach down inside
Get hold of his grace

Let go of the weight
Of things to be done
Release the concern
Take hold one by one

Don’t carry it all
Its too much to bear
Each one’s not so hard
Why pull out your hair

Put your mind
On the Lord
Touch his life
Tap his peace

He wants you to know
There is a release
A place of abiding
Where worries do cease
